Toxic metals

Toxic metals

Toxic metals, such as lead and mercury, are released into the air by some engineering processes and especially by motor vehicle exhaust gases. Once again the lead and mercury can be carried over hundreds of miles before falling in rainwater to contaminate the soil and the vegetation it grows. Motor vehicles are now encouraged to use lead-free petrol in an attempt to reduce the level of lead pollution.
